Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
The following is a list of trains and times I wrote for the Scottslawn secondary Facebook group. These are rough estimates of the times but for the most part fairly accurate. Hope this helps. This is in order of how they run during the day. Q310- Avon Indiana to Columbus, Ohio, daily southbound mani...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
I had no clue about that northbound autorack! They used to run some a few years back south of marysville. There was a H711 that used to bring cars from Buckeye Yard and I think it occasionally would have autoracks on it, and maybe one other northbound autorack but as you said it’s been forever. They...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Super busy day for the Scottslawn.
V900 nearing ridgeway
Q352 leaving Honda behind V900
E895 nearing Gar waiting on Q352
E312 leaving darby waiting on E895
E312 has to give back his track from camp to mounds because Q311 still has to run.

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
I can’t exactly remember what the symbol of that grain train was but I did hear it on the scanner and almost went out to get some pics of it. It’s destination was the Heritage Cooperative elevator in Marysville. They’ve been getting a few lately, that was the second in one week if I remember correct...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Supposedly the Geo train will only be going up the Burt Line, and the other down to Russel tomorrow, not the Scottslawn unfortunately.

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Possible that the CSX geometry train will run up both the Scottslawn Secondary and the Burt line tomorrow or this week sometime, both Geometry trains are currently in Columbus.

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Yep! That is correct. Only signals on the line are at major control points, such as CP Darby, and CP82 (Ridgeway). The other signals you may see on the line are distant signals for the spring switches located at the north end of two sidings on the line, and the switches that lead into Honda via the ...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
A W996 traveled down the Scottslawn today. Had a GE turbine being handed to the Ohio Central. I missed it unfortunately as I was railfanning in Marion, of course those are my odds, something good runs on the line and I’m not there to see it. N312 also used the line today, as well as a G025 I believe...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Update, A G250 I believe it was met Q147 in Willis siding around 8:30pm. Q146 is probably still up on the Toledo Branch. Overall, including Y103 and the possible G991, that’s 8-9 trains on the Scottslawn. I also forgot to mention there’s been two N312’s the past couple of days.

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Extremely busy day on the Scottslawn. Started out with H708 coming north and switching scotts around 11:30am. H708 has to get into the siding about an hour later to let an X310 by with UP power, maybe this means Q310 was really early today but I’m not sure, for some reason they ran an extra one. App...

Re: Deshler Tower
From what I’ve heard the tower is safe for now as it’s just getting a new furnace and windows replaced. The dumpsters were for cleaning out the second floor. The depot on the other hand sounds like it has limited time. I’m not sure on all of this as it’s just stuff I’ve heard and read but thought I’...

Buckeye yard
Whats the latest at buckeye yard in Columbus. I’ve heard ns has sold it and it is getting ready to be developed. Is this true? Ns only used it for storage since the hump was closed and there’s really been no activity except for csx van yard. Are there any locals or employees still working out of buc...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
That is correct, the Coal train did in fact meet the grain train in Willis siding. I just barely missed getting stopped by the Coal train at Scottslawn Rd. I believe about an hour and a half afterwards I could hear a horn which I’m guessing was either Q146 or Q147, and about a half hour after that a...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Sounds like tonight is a pretty busy night on the Scottslawn. Q311 is coming through late, went by Darby around 6:45pm. Q146 at the same time is heading through ridgeway on its way south while Q147 was leaving van yard waiting on Q311 to clear Darby and give up track. My guess is Q311 will meet Q146...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
The autoracks are back in a strange sort of way. Q352 and Q353 both serve Honda now and head back north and travel the Toledo Branch, which is the same line as the Scottslawn but just the north side of ridgeway all the way to Toledo. Another good possibility of the southbound autorack could be Q131,...

Re: Ohio rail business news
There is definitely not as much traffic as there used to be at Marion Industrial Center. I think Schneider backed out so no more Schneider intermodal trains. Bucyrus Railcar repair now occupies a good portion of the facility as their second location besides bucyrus I believe. There are a few trains ...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
It was dark for me to see the numbers on the locomotives of Q147 last night but it went into the siding at Marysville around 9:20pm, later than usual, not sure what it was meeting, maybe Q146, I happened to be driving by as it was heading in at a slow speed. It was two Gevo locomotives though, very ...

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Doesnt sound like too bad a day of railfanning for you. I didnt get to see if the UP’s were trailing today or not, but they most likely would’ve been trailing if they were. Csx would keep the original power on Q311 from Russel, and just add the power to the consist at parsons.

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
I do remember Q311 had PTC issues that day and had to stop. It also stopped at mounds to wait on a track inspector to clear up at Darby. Maybe that’s why you didn’t hear him.
Watch for Q311 today, if I’m correct, there will be a good chance of it having Q686’s UP Power returning back west.

Re: CSX scottslawn secondary
Oh wow, I didn’t know it came through that late. I had debated seeing it that night but waited until yesterday. And yes, it was a Q686, which will run as needed to Columbus from Avon I believe. The power did go back on Q311 yesterday, I caught it around 3:00 north of Marysville, I don’t think there ...
