Re: Holland Railfan Meet 7/12/23
Used to go with my son to Fostoria for Railfan day. Was OK,no problems for a few years. Then, as more people got involved, the goofy stuff started. Being told that someone was filming, to be quiet, or telling a mom that she really should not let her kids ON the tracks, then being told where to go---...

Re: You never know
The genset phase, that RR's went through-- remember seeing that alot used Cummins truck engines as power, which, is a good diesel. They had 2 or 3 of them, depending on what the load was. Do not know why they did not work out. The theory was valid, but , there must have been issues, as saw a video of...

Re: You never know
The asbestos region would be north and east of Montreal/Quebec. Remember that the old SJ&LC, in Vermont served an asbestos mine. That M636 was well taken care of by CP, in the St.Luc shops, and IIRC, was given the name of the foreman there, who was in charge of re--- engining it. I guess the cost of d...

Re: Hmmm. Should I backup or go forward or...
Usually, for moving, they use a different type of trailer, one that is lower to the ground. Could be United movers, or trailer rental,or anything--- can not make out the other printing on the logo. Trailer did not appear to be damaged, but the sharp sudden whack by the train did not help anything. O...

Actually, the gate was between the tractor and trailer. Driver made the wrong choice, big time.

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
Thanks for the answers!! The one thing that I just thought of, is that LSRC had these available, and A&B acted and got them, --- but GLC, who seems to power short,-- didn't know, or didn't act. ????

I take it that LSRC either does not need these units, or they are surplus, or. ????

Long time ago, I seem to remember a lumber yard in Mackinac City, that was served by the PRR--- but do not know if it lasted long enough to be served by MIGN.

Familiar with the area, and there might be a grade there, but cannot believe it is 5 %. The surrounding area is generally flat,or that's the way it seems.

Re: GLC Active locomotives
As far as the Middleton Branch---- if it is light railed, wouldn't you prefer a six axle--- I know they are heavier, but the extra 2 axles spread the weight out better . The entire reason that a loco such as an SD7, OR SDL39 was built,to run on light rail . Am I missing something?

I take it that the Middleton Branch has sharp curves, as to prefer the use of 4 axle locos ??

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Trackage
I believe that Mound YARD did originate/terminate trains. Use to spend quite a bit of time there watching trains that were made up from the Chrysler plants that were there, and they would be taken to North yard, and then the Mound yard crew would bring back a train to be switched when needed to Chry...
