Probably head back towards Chesterton tomorrow. Maybe find some hiking around there. There seem to be lots of small nature preserves around here. All have a few miles of hiking paths. I found two today that I didn’t know about before.
@ Jetlink « Mon 11:27:58 pm »
Gotten lots of hiking miles in the last few days. Wish it was more conducive to biking.

Yeah well I would say tell that to the politicians but they wouldn’t listen anyway. They’re all hell bent on preventing all death it seems no matter what the cost.
@ Jetlink « Mon 6:25:54 pm »
Much better than last nights, and cheaper too.

Hole in the walll take out stand on the outskirts of New Buffalo. The local cop was getting food there so I knew it was good

Also respirtory diseases like influenza and coronaviruses will always be much harder to combat than diseases like polio which have much narrower infection windows

Tons of people who get vaccinated for the flu still get it. That’s why so many people think it isn’t worth it. But they miss the point: its ultimately about preventing severe infection.
@ Saturnalia « Mon 6:22:48 pm »
Therefore flu vaccines have always been mostly about avoiding severe infection - most people will still catch it to some degree, but most are mild
@ Saturnalia « Mon 6:22:00 pm »
They mutate extremely quickly and are better equipped to infect Human cells
@ Saturnalia « Mon 6:21:38 pm »
Coronaviruses and Influenza viruses are much different than the pathogens that cause, say, measles, polio, etc

It’s more of a therapeutic than a vaccine, which is why the CDC literally changed the definition of vaccine.
The effectiveness at preventing infection largely depends on the virus that is being fought

I feel the same way. Some asshat on Twitter tried challenging me on this. I am 100% morally opposed to abortion but I am also 100% against it being banned. You do you just don’t ask me to pay for it with tax dollars.

My opinion about abortion is a progressive culture should not resort to killing people (the unborn baby) to solve problems. There are other options.
@ ~Z~ « Mon 3:13:04 pm »
i hear ya - it’s tough when other people’s choices about what they do with their bodies affects the health of the people around them. certainly a touchy issue.

and yes AARR, i’m hearing the same about quite a few patients are those that were avoiding the hospital or couldn’t be seen for surgeries due to capacity issues, and now have worse issues that they are trying to fix.

i’ve lost 1 relative from covid, but he didn’t introduce me to the site. We have lost at least 1 member here due to covid, probably a number of others that haven’t posted in a while.
@ ~Z~ « Mon 2:13:42 pm »
Spectrum hospitals last info showed 85% of people in their hospital with covid are unvaccinated. Since more than 50% of michiganders are vaccinated, it’s fairly easy math to show the shot keeps most folk out of the hospital. I’m just trying to do my part to help the community and my family to stay healthy.
@ ~Z~ « Mon 2:09:35 pm »
i didn’t tell AARR to get vaccinated. I hope my contacts would, but I don’t say they have to. Who’s Brandon that’s telling you to get vaccinated AARR?
