On November 29, 2010, three new locomotives (from the BNSF) arrived for operation on the Grand Elk:

BNSF #2108 and #2109 are both GP38-2s, former BN locomotives, both in the "white face" scheme. Built 11-1974.

BNSF #2972 is an ex-GM&O GP35 (Built 2-64), upgraded to a GP39V, in orange and green BNSF Heritage I paint.

Upon arrival, these units have been kept at the west end of Kalamazoo's Botsford Yard on one of the old Roundhouse Leads.
