CSX Train Location Updates - May 2024

17:05 - L303-11 east thru Brighton with 5466, 543, and 2801 leading 93 cars.
17:40 - L302-11 west thru Brighton with 170 and 5251 leading 64 cars.
The pair met in South Lyon with L302 taking the siding. L302 has some interesting NS coil cars on the end, though these are hardly atypical.
Thanks BL2 and bluewonder for the heads up on those grain loads.

G090 ran with solo unit 3383. With G090 returning in blocks on L303, I felt it worth restating that 3383 was last reported heading to Chicago on X327-04.
G076-07 had an extra unit, but this was not 3383, instead being 3288 which had come from L302-07
On L302-07, 3288 was paired with 912. With 3288 gone, 912 was then paired with 5452 for L303-08. 5452 had come east as solo unit on W047-08.

Lastly, it seems Waycross GA (and Rocky Mount NC) are two major origins and destinations for these grain trains. G802 and G804 originate in Rocky Mount, G801 and G803 tend to terminate there. The G78x/79x trains do the same with Waycross.
Considering that these latest trains have been running as high number G700 symbols south of Plymouth, it doesn't surprise me to hear that 7223 had made it down there so quickly. Was it part of a grain train?

A bit of clarification to avoid confusion down the road:

14:30 is 2:30PM
16:30 is 4:30PM

M32611 did not go by Porter at any of those times. It went by Porter at roughly 15:30. Cleared W/E Michigan City at 15:54 and E/E Michigan City roughly 3 minutes later at 15:57.

All CSX times are Eastern, regardless of local time zone. It’s a system wide clock.

For the first time since SBD painted 38-2. 2667 about 20 years ago, a Seaboard System painted unit spent the night in GRP. For 6 whole hours. And now it’s gone again!
