A quick PSA (not train related)
IF YOU ARE DRUNK, YOU ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
I’m spreading that message as my girlfriend got in a serious head on accident that involved a drunk driver yesterday. She’s in critical condition but she should make a full revovery. There was, however, a time period though the evening that we (her parents, my parents and me) thought she wasn’t going to make it.
Please don’t drive drunk, you’re putting people at risk doing so, and their loved ones have to deal with the aftermath if something goes sideways.

I’m praying for your GF David that both of you have the strength to get through this
One of my customers is a county medical examiner where autopsies are performed and they get some horrific cases of drunk driving results

Very sorry to hear about your girlfriend. The drunks need to just stay where they drink until sober. Times like this when having interurbans to shuttle the drunks around would be nice to have.

David-- so sorry to hear about your girlfriend. May she make a complete recovery.
As a retired professional driver, I have seen more than enough accidents. I REALLY wonder when the legal system is EVER going to take this problem seriously.
May God watch over you both, and take time to let her recover at her own pace. I will remember to say an extra prayer, for you two.

Re: A quick PSA (not train related)
David I hope with the passage of these hours that her condition has improved.
One of the best things you can do for her is take care of yourself.
That will keep her from worrying about you.
Hopefully you both will be trackside in the not to distant future.

A drunk driver did this to my left leg back in 1992. I hope your girlfriend's injuries were less critical.

Re: A quick PSA (not train related)
I thought I might as well put an update on Katie’s recovery in here.
What was thought to be 3 weeks that would be spent in the hospital is looking more like 2, she’s been doing absolutely phenomenal and recovering a lot quicker than they thought she would. Then it’s several weeks of taking it easy and Physical Therapy before she can say she’s fully recovered.
She should be good to go for the meetup this summer, whenever that would be

Great news. I hope they go after the driver to the fullest extent of the law for causing this.David Collins wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:10 pmLate update; but Katie was discharged yesterday evening! Lots of sleeping today, it’ll be like that for awhile, but she is home.

I'm praying for you and your girlfriend, these incidents are 100% avoidable if people would just not drink and drive.
