L301-15 @ 12:12 westward reported by the Defect Detector mp CG19.1 Zeeland, Mi with 126 axles. CSX engines #4070 + #6412 & 29 cars. He’s headed into Waverly mp CG22.8 & later to Hartford mp CG68.7 with a Kirk mp CG70.2 runaround & head back east.

Y121-15 @ 13:03 westward on the Hamilton Branch in Holland with CSX engine #2724 & 3 cars (2 Center Beam cars with lumber + 1 Box car). Not sure if this is considered to be westward or southward, he wasn’t headed towards Holland, was going in the opposite direction & going over the E. 8th Street & Fairbanks Ave crossings.

Y121-15 @ 13:03 westward on the Hamilton Branch in Holland with CSX engine #2724 & 3 cars (2 Center Beam cars with lumber + 1 Box car). Not sure if this is considered to be westward or southward, he wasn’t headed towards Holland, was going in the opposite direction.

I asked you that question a couple years ago Tom and you told me trains on the Hamilton branch heading away from Holland were westbound and if they were heading towards Holland they were eastbound. The HNW runs their trains as north and south trains I do believe.

For non technical clarity, you could use streetcar parlance: “outbound” and “inbound”.

Speaking of the Ham Branch, there were 4 tankcars at Sherwin Williams one day last week. 2-3 is typical and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen 4 at once inside their gate.

And, in the nearby vicinity, after a few months of building out Coastal Containers expansion facility, it looks like grading and sub grade work is picking up again for their new spur off the GR Sub. The track materials are staged nearby. Hopefully this continues to move along!

L305-15 over the DD at MP64.0 westbound back to Lansing at 16:45 with 78 cars, 73 of which came from Ann Pere that Z624-15 set off there at noon today. In doing so,and picking up 66 cars that were set out there on Monday, GLC blocked all three downtown Howell crossings for 40 minutes during the noon rush hour.

Note: this evenings train had one loaded center beam flat car behind the engines and should be switching out Standale lumber in Grandville Michigan. This evening‘s train also sounded angry hateful and mean as though it was being led by a former Conrail EMD SD80MAC or maybe a leased unit of some other kind of make and model.
