The Dispatcher is talking from and receiving to a tower at the east end of the yard at Plaster Creek. The online scanner is hearing that tower and the locomotive radio from a tower in Moline.

Dispatcher probably heard it like the crew was sitting at their desk.
Basically, I am sitting on the bad side of the online scanner where I won't be able to hear anything correctly. Very unfortunate to hear. Hearing a lot of static during a briefing ruins the fun.

L303-23 @ 1:39pm EB reported at Madison mp 149.7; CSX #3076 + CSX #526 with 73 cars (36 loads and 37 empties), 6,143 tons and is 4,023 feet long.

M327-23 @ 1:41pm WB reported by DD mp 66.2 Hartford MI at 432 axles; CSX #5265 + CSX #358 + 105 cars

Very tall. The antenna the railroad scanner uses is at about 1440’ above sea level.

Empties are not moving because management is concerned (shocking!) they won’t be able to get the crews back home later.

The superscanner can only do so much when the weather is a nightmare. Also, it's absurdly reliable compared to online scanners in other areas in the country. No need to be a p*ssbaby about it when the caretakers of the superscanner commonly read these threads.

Why at I presume is Y290 soldering on at Judd. Would not want to trade places with the man on the ground on a night like this. Hopefully he gets plenty of time to warm up in between tasks tonight.

Y297 just came flying by with a solo Geep.

Thanks for all the heads up on L302-23 as I made sure I was standing trackside on the bank of the hill under the streetlight on the corner when it went by. 302 stopped again at Howell because the strong COLD wind ahead of them in combined with them moving into it, keeps causing the horn to go out, yet works again when they stop. Second unit behind 9041 was 3400. The Louisville & Indiana unit was indeed 2403. This unit is probably going to Peaker as I believe Peaker has had one of their units there before.

A Christmas time treat for railfans. I am assuming/hoping we will get to see this unit on the GR subdivision as well. Thanks for the heads up.

@ 19:37 M326-23 eastbound has not yet passed through Zeeland Michigan to the best of my knowledge.

LIRC 2304 is a four-axle GP39-2, hence my original post saying 71 cars instead of the actual 70. I'm happy I was able to help some of you see it, rest assured the moment I saw it, I took to RailRoadFan to report it. Interesting about the horn on 9041, they had mentioned horn issues but I could not hear what specifically. And yes Bob, Peaker reportedly had LIRC 3002 during the summer of 2021.

Thanks for sharing the photo. I missed your post initially and went back and saw the changes. I will be on the scanners tonight to see if they mention horn issue again.

What does that even mean? We all hear the online scanner exactly the same.

So you're telling me you heard the same conversation this morning?>>>> "exactly the same." This is what I heard from M327; .....m32723 on duty at 0900......static.......csx 5235....static..static....csx 358.........static...static....static...no dp.....ready to depart......static.......

I am not going to debate on what I heard on the scanners this morning. Being on the bad static side of the scanner when you are trying to hear a simple briefing on how many loads, empties, tonnage and length of a train.
