Noticed GRE at Ada, evidently going to amway at 14:00. They were stopped at the switch when I went underneath at TRDr. They were not in sight after a stop at the Speedway for a few minutes. Musta snuck by us.

I spent last night in Mason Mich, 10-16-19 into 10-17-19. And at 12 midnight i heard horns from the north on the Jackson And Lansing Railroad and it was a GP9 with 24 steel coil cars and a GP9 on the end of the train headed south to Jackson.

Coopersville & Marne X7014 goes on duty 1700ish, load(s?) only, so sun should be real nice after pickup.
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.

Re: Michigan Short Line Updates - October 2019
I had a bit of a free morning yesterday and decided to head north to try to catch Marquette Rail's northbound road freight amongst the fall colors north of Sparta. Blue skies + orange locomotives + pure Michigan reds, oranges and yellows, what could be better? Seeing a train!
My best takeaway from the trip was this photo of the Newaygo Bridge over the Muskegon. Beautiful, but not the only thing I wanted. So my questions:
Z151 runs at night during the week (Sparta-Wyoming Yard-Spartaish). Assuming they get all their on-line switching done south of Sparta in time, where do they typically tie up until the day crew arrives? North of Sparta? South? I know the southbounds tend to stop just above or below Kent City, or sometimes with the power near the ballfields on the north side of Sparta proper.
I never found their train. Maybe my early morning trip up to Newaygo wasn't far north enough (I hear they report to Sparta at 7am, I was in Newaygo by 7:40, maybe I didn't go far enough?)? Maybe they had a rather short train and I just missed them where the road is away from the tracks for too long? Maybe they departed early to allow the track gang to rebuild one of the crossings at Kent City? Maybe....something else? All I know is that the fall colors and backroads were stunning but no moving trains were seen.
For those who enjoy such details, there were 6 covered hoppers at Packaging Personified in Sparta and 2 tanks at QLF in Comstock Park. All other spurs between 6 Mile Road and Newaygo were empty. It's not likely I'll get any more time this fall to railfan MQT, so unless they run on an upcoming weekend, a repeat trip will have to wait!

Can’t really answer your questions myself, but MQT will most likely run Z151 this weekend sometime. Don’t know which day yet.

I do, thank you

Re: Michigan Short Line Updates - October 2019
Z15120 left plaster creek heading north at 13:55. Z15121 north at 1:04am on 10/22. z15122 north at 3am on 10/23, so possibly they were further north than Sparta to start, really hard to tell. Z15123 north at 1am on 10/24. Z15124 north at 12:30am 10/25.GP30M4216 wrote:Z151 runs at night during the week (Sparta-Wyoming Yard-Spartaish).
