Re: Great Lakes Central Updates: July 2019
Some observations from my travels from Ithaca to Farwell today. Lots of track work from Ithaca to Alma, lots of track work around Rosebush. Noticed a Railbox high cube boxcar spotted at the fertilizer dealer south of Rosebush. Semi was backed up to it,hilo was in the boxcar moving material into the semi from what I could tell. East Jordan Plastics is still a customer and is transloading plastic resin from Clare yard, seen it today. Lots of plastic hopper's at Northern Logistics, several sitting on yard tracks. Just missed the Cadillac crew in Clare, they left there train sitting on the main for the Owosso crew to pickup. Haven't seen any used tie hopper's from CSX in a while? Has Viking Energy in Mcbain stopped receiving them? Hopefully they just have a very large stockpile to use up. Also,is the sand plant in Yuma still operating? Just not shipping by rail,or shut back down completely again?

Owosso north is gonna be welded rail in the near future. Viking is indeed still shipping as there were cars on them last week when I saw ONTN go south, cars may be slow at the moment, but the business is still there. As far as Yuma goes, the rail shipments are nonexistent anymore, but I'm pretty sure they still do service by truck (for anyone with a clearer answer, feel free to correct me)

Thanks for the responses, the boxcar in Rosebush was a nice surprise.

It very well could be a edible bean boxcar. There is a few other elevators on the GLC and MMRR that take boxcars for that purpose.railroader and son wrote:Thanks for the responses, the boxcar in Rosebush was a nice surprise.

Anyone know if 126 has left the SRI for Fife Lake yet?
Re: Great Lakes Central Updates: July 2019
It was spotted at the fertilizer dealer south of Rosebush, not the elevator in Rosebush. So I don't think it's beans but then again the same person owns both places (and the elevator in Shepherd) so I could be wrong.
The liquid fertilizer plant in Ashley gets an occasional box car now and then too. I'm curious what is being carried.

Looks like all 3 locomotives went north out of Cadillac today. None sitting at the shops when I drove past this afternoon, they were all there this morning before work. I would guess that one may be staged in Fife Lake as back up to 126 the next two days.
Update: Brought back empty plastics hoppers and tanks Wednesday. 396 and 392 at engine house Friday morning.

Forgot to post earlier but on my way back from mcbain this afternoon there were 2 black tanks along 127 at the Ithaca mean plant. I can't remember the reporting marks. I won't be up there again till Monday to check.

There were passenger cars in Kalkaska on Wednesday evening on my way to Turtle Creek. Had others in the car, so I couldn't stop. When I came back around 9:30pm, they were gone.

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates: July 2019
I caught 395 hauling some Steam Railroading Institute and MARC coaches, and 2 Ann Arbor RR Cabooses on 7/5/19 through Manton on Cam, but I have yet to post it. They were the coaches from the Steam Train stuff out of Fife Lake over the 4th , i'd caught the same coaches headed to FL earlier in the week, before that they were in Cadillac Yard.
Consistently confused
