I am looking along the line (on Google Maps) from Whitmore Lake to Hamburg and saw something interesting that reminded me of a past event.

Just south of Strawberry Lake Rd there is a small building with what looked like a covered hopper behind it. Coordinates (42.44205515643852, -83.79569334038494).

I recall at one time there was a customer here, but thy had a fire and one of the cars was badly damaged and was left in place. Just south of the building, there is an extension of a rail sput now disconnected from the mainline.

Does anyone remember when this happened or detailed of what happened. I tried doing a Google Search and couldn't find anything.

Wasn't that a Pickney Plastics facility?

GLC owns the land and has recently rebuilt the spur as a pocket for MOW to hide when trains run by.

Intersting the railroad bought the land and rebuilt the spur. Is the old plastics hopper still there or did they finally cut it up and remove it? (Or maybe I could drive over and see, since it is only about 15 minutes from home).

they have owned the land for a long time. go take a look at the layout and you'll see what i mean.

two plastics hoppers were filled at the time of the fire. turned into giant melted plastic mess. took forever to get disposed of.
