GTW Schedule 1976

Unread post by AARR »

It is my understanding this was the GTW manifest schedule from late steam era until around 1980 (source: Grand Trunk Western by Patrick C. Dorin, 1977).
385 Battle Creek - Thornton Jct.
386 Thornton Jct. - Battle Creek
387 Battle Creek - Chicago (Elsdon)
390 Chicago (Elsdon) - Port Huron
391 Port Huron - Chicago (Elsdon)
392 Chicago (Elsdon) - Port Huron
393 Port Huron - Chicago (Elsdon)
395 Port Huron - Chicago (Elsdon)
400 Toledo - Port Huron
401 Port Huron - Toledo
410 Durand - Toledo
411 Toledo - Durand
420 Flint - Toledo
421 Toledo - Flint
432 Battle Creek - Detroit
433 Detroit - Battle Creek
434 Chicago (Elsdon) - Detroit
435 Detroit - Chicago (Elsdon)
450 Muskegon - Detroit
451 Detroit - Muskegon

My notes on the on the locals are compiled from several sources and I can't couch for 100% accuracy. I will post them later.

This is cool stuff Don! Find it nifty that 500 and 501 are still numbers that CN uses for the Port Huron/Battle Creek locals that run to Durand.

Add to that manifest list trains 380 (Port Huron - Detroit) and 381 (Detroit - Port Huron). These were some of the rare anomalies on the GTW as the even number ran west and the odd ran east. This pair ran until a bit beyond 1994 when all of the 380 series trains were moved to the Mount Clemens subdivision. With the opening of the tunnel, additional symbols were needed as traffic tripled on the sleepy MTC sub.
