The URL in the recent post by Garry K titled "Early train travel in Michigan" shows a photo of the Michigan Central Roundhouse.
The dome shaped building is something I did not know about. (I need to get out more often ; )

What would have been the function or purpose of having a high ceiling building as such for a locomotive roundhouse?
It certainly was a unique style building for its purpose.
