After seeing the one post, western michigan where is it, I got to wondering where other such cabooses are located around Michigan in view of anyone traveling down the highway.
viewtopic.php?t=4848

One I know of is located on M-115 one mile West toward Cadillac from US-10. On the left side, heading west, is a caboose with Santa Fe paint on one side and GTW paint on the other. Split loyalties I guess.

So where are others?

Here's an AA caboose in Traverse City by the depot.

There's a guy north of Manistee on US 31 that has a DT&I one in front of his house on about 50ft of track. It's all decked out to live in too. There's something about the local ordinance that a structure can't be a certain amount of distance from the house so he can move it back and forth on the section of track.

C&O caboose is at the fairgrounds just off of I-96 at the Eagle exit. There's also one at the Allegan County fairgrounds.

Geez...there are so many I see in my travels...I can't even think of another one right now...brain is just a blur.

Of course GTW 75003 in Durand.

Caro- GTW caboose, northeast of town off M-81

Lapeer- While not visable from the main roads through town, there is a GTW, an NYC and a DT&I caboose at the depot.

Imlay City- Again, not visable from the main road, GTW caboose at the depot.

Sparta- Ex-C&O wide vision caboose hidden back by the old TS&M depot.

Blissfield- While not technically on display, the Adrian & Blissfield has CN, GTW and DW&P cabooses on their property that are easily seen while driving by on US-223.

Many more I can't think of off the top of my head right now. I'll put them in as I remember.

I THINK there is one in Lake Odessa near the old depot, too. It's been a few years since I've driven by it, but for some reason I seem to remember seeing one there.

Yes the caboose in Lake Odessa is still there. I know someone has a caboose in their backyard in Charlotte. Its not very easy to find but its a Missouri Pacific caboose.

Got a few of them here in Clare, two of them are ex-CN, with one of them still having CN on it, and the third is a N5 i think with the side windows. They're owned by Mears in Rosebush but they sit in the old abandoned recycle place. All three are pretty much trashed inside tho :( .

If I recall correctly, either in TC or Peteosky, or both, there are passenger cars a flat car, and possibly a caboose on an old spur disconnected from any track. Very beat up though. Saw them while visiting a business. There is also someone who owns a caboose that lives on the Thunder Bay River in Alpena. This guy has it made. The caboose, the fence made out of whistle posts, the working cross buck at the end of his driveway, etc. I'll have to grab a few pictures some time.

Ah..cabooses:
That one mentioned that is in both GTW and ATSF paint is because it was an ATSF cab before the GTW purchased it, the owned wanted to honor both roads that ran it.

In da thumb:

75006-Wadhams..in the mini-storage next to the KOA on Lapeer Rd.

75017-Imlay City, behind the GTW depot
75019-Caro, on display next to the ex PM Ubly depot on M-24 just north of the Wal-Mart.
78899-Capac, on old M-21 east of Capac Rd, on display next to the exGTW depot
79032(?)-Mayville, on display next to the exPM Vassar depot on M-24, east of town (NOTE..WOOD CAB!!!)
A 79000 series steel cab on the hill, Burch and Wildcat roads

I think there is probally one in Shepherd near the depot in town there. There is also a chessie painted caboose in the park located along the Saginaw Sub in Romulus.

Around the Saginaw Area that place on M-46 east of town has a few railroad cars on their property, which could include a caboose or two.

It's at the corner of Cooper and Boyne roads...and that answers a question I had...it sure doesn't look like a D&M caboose anymore...

Also, I believe on the north side of Three Rivers (or maybe Schoolcraft), there is a restaurant/bar? that includes a caboose which is visible from 131.

Slightly out of state- there is a caboose on US20 between South Bend and Michigan City...
