I was going to guess on CSX west of Plymouth so I would have been on the right track

Correct
Indeed, correct! It's Bauer Road crossing with CSX RR Plymouth Sub, in Genoa Township, Livingston County, west of Brighton. That shot above is looking south towards Challis Road and the Mt. Brighton Snow Ski Resort. Final runs of the remaining old C&O Railway passenger trains 11,12, 14, and 15, the Pere Marquette, between Detroit and Grand Rapids, was made on April 30, 1971 which is 50 years ago this coming April 30.

Note the Penn Central logo. Nearby is a different kind of "boxcar" constructed of mostly aluminum.

Not Kalamazoo, in fact not Michigan. Rather than relying on guesses to zero in on the location I am going to go with Air Force pilots.

On the left Muskegon native Lt Col John Lappo. He began is career with the Army Air Corps in WWII. Flew B29's in Korea and ended his Air Force flying days with a daring event here in Michigan. Air planes similar to his are on display around the country.

In the center is Brig Gen James Stewart. Best know as an actor he flew B24's in WWII and maintained his reserve status retiring in 1968. Think movies, air planes and boxcars.

On the right a decorated aviator who earned among other things the Distinguished Flying Cross. He served in WWII and flew 100 combat missions in Korea. He was laid to rest in the Arlington Nation Cemetery in 1967.

Not Wright Patterson but the right idea. No aviation fans or movie buffs? Capt Lappo flew a B47 variant under the Mackinac Bridge in 1959. Jimmy Stewart pilots a B47 in Strategic Air Command. In a later movie he pilots a C82 Packet and the C119 Flying Boxcar was used in a 2004 remake.

If you like to search Google Maps the highway continues into Michigan.

Yes it is. Gus Grissom was the pilot on the right. The Grissom Air Museum is next to the overpass. It includes a B47 and C117.

That overpass was part of the old Pennsylvania RR (later Penn Central, later Conrail) Panhandle Line between Logansport, IN and Columbus, OH until its abandoned in 1984. The Logansport based train and engine crews worked to and from Columbus, OH.

I don't think that overpass was ever part of the Pennsylvania because it has the PC initials as part of the concrete structure :P

Dave O is correct! That overpass was built in 1969 with the PC initials on it. The previous overpass which was part of the Pennsylvania RR panhandle route. was replaced with that 1969 built concrete structure.

I thought that bridge looked familiar. Been under it a few times over the past several years. I've never noticed the PC logo though as I'm always rubbernecking at the aircraft sitting at the museum.

That's was my first guess. But way too clean. Oh and that's an OWLS crossing.
Fullerton Jct would need 2 of those

I'm going with not in Michigan.
