Re: Where Is It?
That building housed a former Detroit Fire Department Engine Company.
I bet that won't help much
It is also one of the newer fire stations built in Detroit.
That isn't saying much

Indeed, Old CSX West Detroit Branch cross Manor just south of Grand River Ave aka old US-16 in Detroit, Wayne County.Michael wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 1:48 pmDave's firehouse hint made it easy https://goo.gl/maps/batMAUgdmEbgcP1A6 CSX off Grand River/Manor

Re: Where Is It?
Almost all DFD firehouses have a similar roof structure and have hose drying towers.Michael wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 1:48 pmDave's firehouse hint made it easy https://goo.gl/maps/batMAUgdmEbgcP1A6 CSX off Grand River/Manor
I don't think any are open that have/had a fire lookout/hose drying tower.
Engine 49 established 1924 and disbanded 2012.
It was the road signs for the railroad crossing that told me where to start looking.

The "really cold" helped. Figured it was a border crossing in detroit, but it's Point W Dr in Sault Ste Marie.

Re: Where Is It?
Yes indeed. At first glance one might think it a defect detector.
But it's used to inspect the inside of the cars for things that don't belong in the cars.
I was surprised to find there is none at the Detroit River Tunnels.

Re: Where Is It?
I'm going to guess Detroitland. Thought maybe an older Jackson photo but doesn't appear to be.

Considering where the power is based, 313 it is. Was a busy double track there, back in the day.

Back a long time ago I went with the neighbor to help them load used railroad ties at the yard just to the west.M.D.Bentley wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 2:17 pmConsidering where the power is based, 313 it is. Was a busy double track there, back in the day.

313 Area Code + NS on Branchline = Must be on "Shared" Trackage
