IN/OH Trip last week

Went on our annual pilgrimage to northern IN and OH, last week.

In Elkhart and Goshen, we saw 10 freights in about 1.5 hours from 5-6:30pm Wednesday, then followed the Chicago line east to Swanton.

Warsaw is interesting with 2 blocks of street running at full speed. Saw 2 NB over the evening and morning. They seem to spend hours parked north of town, maybe waiting for the CSX diamond.

Fostoria Thursday: traffic was light in the morning. B & O heritage unit on an EB. A lot of drama around the restroom vandalism, which has been noted in other posts.

Deshler was busy, especially late Friday. The N/S Toledo line seemed busier than previous years. Actually saw a NB and SB through the diamond in the evening daylight. Some years we’ve seem none. Also saw 2 EB to SB’s, one was an ethanol unit train.
