An early departure got me to Waterloo IN just after sunrise, and just before Amtrak 49.

After Amtrak, NS ran 3 or 4 freights in short order.

Continuing east, I stopped in Butler where I was pleased to find a pair of signals that haven’t been replaced and shot a couple of freights at the Ohio border.

A hi-rail in Edgerton suggested that the NS might be quiet for a bit, so I headed off on a bit of a side trip. Edon Ohio provided the IN working the elevator.

While the GP-30 was a pleasant surprise my goal was the spot where Michigan, Indiana & Ohio meet.

In this picture, Indiana is in the foreground, the cornfield is in Michigan, and the empty field is in Ohio.

On the way back to Waterloo, I ran across this vintage NYC caboose east of Angola.

Back in Waterloo, the NS local was headed out of town, and the Old-27 Motor Tour had arrived for lunch by the depot.

After a bit of a lull, apparently due to trackwork farther west, NS sent 3 more trains through town in half an hour.

At this point I decided to head south and check on CSX at Garrett. Got an eastbound coming out of the yard & a crew assembling a local. While the old freight station is a great location to sit and watch, the lighting is pretty awful in the late afternoon, so I found a better spot in the country west of the yard.

After 7 trains in a couple of hours I headed back up to the Chicago line at Corunna and got one westbound at a nice tree tunnel road.

Another half dozen trains, including a perfect meet at the depot before Amtrak 30 arrived, and I called it a day.

Final total was 30 trains in 15 hours.

Pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Easiest description is about 5 miles east of Angola on Indiana 120, and then about a mile south on a dirt road.
