Nice shots!!!
Shots#4, 5 and 6 above were taken on East Kalamazoo Street, looking west towards both the CSX and the JAIL railroad crossings in Lansing.

Shot #9 referring to "South Yard" was, at least back in the day when I worked there (PC Conrail NS), that yard was officially "Lansing Yard" in the employee timetables. Simply called "South Yard" because it was on the south side of town. Our old rules examiner would often try and trip people up by giving an train order example using "South Yard" in the body of the train order such as, "Engine 5649 run extra Rives Jct to South Yard" and see how many people would say that was a valid train order. The real "South Yard" (as listed in the timetable) was in Kalamazoo. I had to correct an NS train dispatcher once when he gave me a Form D and and referred to Lansing Yard as South Yard. Just a little history. We still called it South Yard most of the time though when using the radio, ect.

Great photos! Glad to still see a bit of GT blue. Cory Yard is actually 4 miles west of your shots. The yard you photographed is between the stations of Hope and Mill and may not have a name in the current timetable, but was at one point was called "Lansing," and unofficially New Yard or Snow Rd. Yard.

A great capture of Lansing railroading, including some operating history in the form of GP9s and GTW blue!

I work just out of view to the right of this photo. Someday I'll be able to time my lunch in order to get a similar shot! Some weeks, it seems like the JAIL comes by lite units just as often as having cars!

Are there any free spots at the EL Amtrak station now or do you have to pay, even to railfan for just a little while?
