Met up with James this morning in Walled Lake, heard that the former COE rail was running this morning to drop cars off at APT and CSX. Too bad the light was so dang craptastic! James shot some video so he may post it here too.

Track looks horrible, sure have let the line go. Looking east toward Walled Lake from Ladd Rd.

Looking west

Conductor sure does look familiar...

The backside of APT, looked like there was one more car back there for a total of 7...not including the one they dropped off. This one is for you AARR

Making the delivery at APT

Benstein Rd. Now on to Wixom for the delivery to the CSX
Image

Sure is sad to see that signal rusting away
Image

You can barely see the rails with all the weeds growing

Rounding the bend in Wixom.
Image

Conductor had to jump off and walk up ahead to see if there were any cars from CSX.

Finishing up at Wixom

Work is done, heading back to Walled Lake with light power.

That was it, didn't have time to follow back to Walled Lake. Photos are also on Flickr

nice pics and report crmike. Looking good and standing tall SMRGuy :)

In the second to last pic what's the industry in the background with all the covered hoppers in it? Are those cement hoppers from Alpena?

They just might be cement hoppers. The last time I checked, that place was a pre-cast concrete manufacturer. I don't remember the name though.

Thats Korexx, last time I knew, they made soaps. The have small 25tonner or a plymouth switcher.

I stand corrected, that used to be a pre-cast company awhile back.

Korex had quite a few cars on their spurs. Is that the norm for them? Looks to be a good customer for CSX that I wasn't aware of.

As far as I can remember yes that is the norm. When I ride my quad, I will usually go to that BP gas station at Wixom and Pontiac Trail then take my food back to an abandoned subdivision construction site that backs up to the spur and watch them unload. I'm pretty sure this is the lines biggest customer unless there is a bigger one up in flint. I'm not sure what Trans Flo is getting at the moment but it may be up with the christmas season coming and more toys being needed for store shelves.

Must have been a long while ago, as from my day one at CSX, it has always been soap. They had a fire a while back that took out there wherehouse. I want to say they dont use more then three or four a day, rest is just waiting. Was three tracks as I rember. Most usualy half full.
