Rochelle, IL. trip #1

Unread post by Railzfan »

This is part 1 of 3,

This is my first trip to Rochelle this year, 7th total time visiting. We arrived late, so picture quality isn’t very good. But, I still like using my video camera to catch the action. We waited until 9:30pm tonight for UP 1983 (the Western Pacific heritage unit), but I was delayed again and again, until it finally passed through town about 10 minutes ago (11:40pm). Below are a few pictures that I got before it got too dark to get any.

Image

A SD70M and C40-8 lead a WB autorack train toward Clinton, IA.

Image

UP C40-8 9072 holds on the main due to signal problems. As the train approached the signal it kept switching between red and green, seemed as I there was something blocking the line ahead.

Two AC4400’s with a consist of about 110 loaded coal hoppers just before nightfall.

An extremely vandalized Autorack.

More in a few :D

UP SD40-2 #3097, former BNSF SD20-2 #7122 (now CEFX), and UP SD40-2 #3426 with a WB mixed freight. Notice the different number board font sizes.

See you all tomorrow night for part 2 :D
