Indiana Notes
Indiana Notes
Got up at 0600 on Sunday morning and headed for Indiana. Weather forecast called for mostly sunny skies. It was sunny on the way down, but a few clouds were moving in. Got off I-94 at Indiana SR-49 then down to Woodville, getting on US-6 and heading east through Suman, Westville, Wellsboro, Walkerton, LaPaz, Bremen, Nappanee, Milford, Syracuse, Cromwell and Kimmell. Spent most of my time drving around looking for good spots for future trips since the sun was playing hide-and-seek. When I did spend time trackside, it was mainly in Nappanee and Milford. I also made stops in Goshen and Ligonier on NS.
CSX wasn't calling out signals, in fact, I didn't hear one peep from channel 8 or the dispatcher all day. Didn't hear too much on NS either. Saw 144 come up the Marion Branch into Goshen and heard them talking, also heard the dispatcher, but heard nothing on the Water Level Route. I'd think it was my scanner if it wasn't for the few things that I did hear. Strange...
I did upload a few shots to rrpicarch.net...you know where to find em if you want to see them...go to my site. And a video from Nappanee of Q324 meeting K800 in front of the restored depot. http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/mr_tops/video/61193

Size
Thanks, BB!
File sizes are usually around 10-20 MB...but that video was 34 MB...takes about 20 minutes to upload

I updated that page...and in doing so, I realized I didn't hear the DD in Gravelton when I was in Milford, and the Cromwell detector while I was there. Is my scanner allergic to the CSX channel? Did CSX switch road channels down yonder, or WHAT!? Hey Matt, you know?
Mr. Tops gone cray-zee!

Re: Size
I thought they must have been in that file size range to be such high quality videos. I made some videos last night with a different movie editing program that puts them into mpeg format which are higher quality and in the 10MB plus file size range. My other videos were edited in Windows Movie Maker which puts them in .wmv file which is lower quality but less space. I wanted to find out what size your videos were before I uploaded a 20MB one. Thanks for sharing Mr. Tops.Mr. Tops wrote:Thanks, BB!

Aren't they in .wmv format from Movie Maker? I have .wmv videos on dailymotion.Mr. Tops wrote:I use Windows Movie Maker as well. I have several videos that I've put together using it, but DailyMotion won't support the file format, so I end up putting raw footage on the site.

ah, .mswmm is the project file itself.. you need to save it as "movie file"...then you can make it as a .wmv file so other players can read it.

You definately did see more clouds than us further east... crazy to watch in video #20 just how quickly those clouds were moving...very brisk winds.

Nice little discussion about file sizes turns into Mr. Tops learning how to save Movie Maker videos. Which ever ones are .wmv look as good as the raw video.Mr. Tops wrote:Alright, 3 new videos on the site. #'s 20-22, including 2 that went through Windows Movie Maker. Again, thanks for the help guys!
