MELVINDALE, MI – Police in Metro Detroit are looking for a suspect who was allegedly shooting at railroad workers on Thanksgiving.

According to the Melvindale Police Department and Norfolk Southern Railroad Police, a male teenager reportedly fired several shots at workers around 2 p.m.

The suspect, who was wearing a camouflage jacket or hooded sweatshirt and blue pants, then fled south through the railyard and Gale Gardens Apartments toward Allen Park.


Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. A witness said they did see a male running toward Outer Drive shortly before officers arrived on scene.

Police officers also located three young women hanging out on the railroad tracks during the search and advised them on the dangers of trespassing on railroad property.

The Allen Park Police Department also assisted in the search for the suspect.
