List of CN Flint Sub Train Symbols
List of CN Flint Sub Train Symbols
Hello everyone, I'm trying to build a list of CN's Flint Sub train symbols.
Please comment with any symbol you know of, as well as the usual times they run, what they're carrying, where they originate and terminate, etc.
If you have information regarding GLC and other railroads CN interchanges with, feel free to add those too!
I plan to turn the comments into a list, which I will add to this post.
Thank you!
Edit, I'm making a spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Re: List of CN Flint Sub Train Symbols
I compiled this list using several sources and observations. It's probably not 100% accurate, but it should be close. Also, this is just the symbols and doesn't contain all the detailed information. You can check the wiki for that. http://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/CN_Train_Symbols
I'd also welcome any additions or corrections to this list.

Re: List of CN Flint Sub Train Symbols
Does this mean M393 and M398, or M393, 394, 395, 396, 397 and 398? Thanks

Re: List of CN Flint Sub Train Symbols
How many of these are running daily now? That seems like a lot more than there used to be - is this including stuff that takes the tunnel at Port Huron then turns south via Mt Clemens?LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:05 pm

Re: List of CN Flint Sub Train Symbols
Need to add 117 and 189 to the intermodal list, as the symbols have run out of Moterm recently.
Note that 117, 119, 189 (actually, 189 has been a regular extra lately) are NOT daily trains, these are extra intermodals out of Moterm. The most extra symbols I have seen/heard from Moterm lately were 4 extras in a 8 day span between Feb 14 and Feb 21, 2 of which were 189 symbols I believe.
Intermodals 120, 121, 122, 123 I am not familiar with, but to my knowledge, don't run on the Holly Sub and are extras on the Flint and South Bend subs. These are the newest symbols I believe.
Also, the sand train is actually 756.
Coal is sad, I remember 760, 761, 762, 763 as recently as the early 2000s (all trains up and down the Holly bound for Monroe I think?), and 764 and 765 to Durand bound for Essexville. To bad only 711 and 712 are left. Btw, does CSX have the Essexville contract year round now, or will that switch back to CN via Durand in spring/summer time? Also, all is not lost when speaking of those old Holly Sub coal trains, NS has had the contract for several years now, and these trains now run as 878 thru 883 on the NS main to Toledo, then North from there.

CSX has the contract for Essexville until the plant converts to natural gas in 2023David Lang wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 7:58 amNeed to add 117 and 189 to the intermodal list, as the symbols have run out of Moterm recently.

The 120-123 trains are intermodal to and fro Halifax, NS to Chicago or British Colombia. Not as frequent but also could run “up and over” thru Canada or overnight and even Dan Cluley misses em.

Re: List of CN Flint Sub Train Symbols
Currently, no intermodal on the MTC sub. The only trains listed above that utilize that route would be L533 and E271. The regular home for 533 is on the MTC, but it will occasionally run west on the Flint if there is work to be done - usually Lapeer. 271 is an autorack re-positioning train and will run on both subs when needed. Strip away the extras/non-daily/as needed trains, and you are left with a considerably shorter list.Saturnalia wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 11:26 pmHow many of these are running daily now?
