Hate to hear that. Worst for the victim, but bad for the crew. And if the incident was AT instead of NEAR the Amtrak station, that could make it harder to railfan there. If that's even permitted anymore?

I've been around long enough I remember the fatal accident near Bogue Street which led to the installation of those metal mazes for pedestrians at the crossings across campus.

Unfortunately there wasn't a follow up article to provide more information. People still watch trains at East Lansing Amtrak station. Not as many as there used to be. Things started dying down when CP took off their trains from CSX and traffic on the CSX started drying up. Certainly traffic on the CSX line is at historical lows.

Ok boomer here’s the deets: 20F suicide. What does her death have to do with the decline in traffic on the CSX Plymouth sub?

Doesn’t seem to me his comments on how many people still trainwatch there was related to the fatality at all - he was answering the question posed earlier.

He was commenting on something in the post above his about the environment for train watching there especially in the wake of incidents like this. Chillax.

Rail fans wearing out their welcome at Trowbridge more so. Even with the decline in CSX traffic you could still get a donut at Quality Dairy and hope to see something on CSX. But once parking at Trowbridge was sure to bring a visit from the police why bother?
