Car-Train Crash in Gaylord.

Unread post by Jochs »

A distracted driver didn't see a stopped LSRC train in Otsego County and swerved to avoid it, hitting the engine, and a vehicle stopped at a yield sign in the opposite direction.

Don't you love the reporting....the stopped train caused the car crash? I don't think so!

Story looked rather straight up to me. Nowhere did I read that the train caused the crash...or are you reading between the lines?

Doc, I completely agree about their head buried in their phone.

I know this comment isn't train related, but I wonder what would happen to people if the cell phone grid just stopped working (unlikely I know, but a rather fascinating social observation if it ever did happen). People would have to actually look at each other and talk using this thing called their mouth and this other thing called eye contact. People would be breaking down everywhere I'm afraid. It's sad.

Roger that David Lang! I know auto fatalities would drop. How many times have you been at an intersection, first up, light turns green and some fool drives right thru the red...never looked up. I've seen it a few times and now I always LOOK both ways when I get a green at a traffic light before I move. M44 and Myers Lake seems problematic.

Had a guy right in front of me the other day make a panic stop just as the light turned yellow. He wanted to use that time to dial his phone.

Been there, done that. I predate cell phones. :D

Not sure I want to see what the youth that have never lived without a phone would do if the machine stopped.
