Need some info for Huckleberry caboose #0776

Unread post by Robertrains »

I produce yearly train calendars. I need to know the history (from reliable source) of Huckleberry® RR caboose #0776! When was this caboose built and for what railroad? Was it it fact built originally as a "Baggage Car?" I heard that it was, but can't find anything online about that. What year did Huckleberry® get it? I like this caboose!!!!
This picture my Dad (RCJ I) took (Canon® 35mm S.L.R.) of caboose 0776 when we were at Huckleberry® RR, December 23, 2000: Image

Good info, but it is said that "the original number and build date are not known. " Another site says "1880s Vintage caboose." Is there a way to find out what year it was built? Hopefully we can find more info! It is a "Side Door Caboose." That must mean it never was never a "Baggage Car," correct?

The person that posted that and has kept it updated knows. He owns RIders Hobby in Flint and travels frequently in search of steam.
The only better source is the Huckleberry Railroad. Ask them what they know.

When it comes to historic rail cars that have traveled many miles and many years between many owners... Well sometimes the answer isn't 100% for sure.
