Ex-NS B32-8s in Lansing
Are the B32-8s at Conrad Yelvington in Lansing yet or is GLLX 921 "Miss Scarlet" still operating the plant? I know the B32s came west a few weeks ago but I wasn't sure if they were placed in operation yet.

I am pretty sure #921 is still operating the plant. Where did you get your information from?kd_1014 wrote:Are the B32-8s at Conrad Yelvington in Lansing yet or is GLLX 921 "Miss Scarlet" still operating the plant? Getting the info from a few railfans on Instagram. Just went over there and it seems the B32 was further down the track and the 921 was at the very end of the track by the road. Seems like the 921 hasn't run in some time.NS3322 wrote:I am pretty sure #921 is still operating the plant. Where exactly is Conrad Yelvington Plant in Lansing located?
Re: Ex-NS B32-8s in Lansing
Stone yard in just north of Ensel on MLK Blvd. There is also a trackmobile that has been there for a while. The GP may have not been used recently, NS units are there, just drove by
Re: Ex-NS B32-8s in Lansing
I take it "Stone Yard" must be the yard which backs up to Stoneco (https://stoneco.net/) which is just west of MLK? I'd never heard a name for this yard, but it would totally make sense.gbw wrote:Stone yard in just north of Ensel on MLK Blvd. There is also a trackmobile that has been there for a while. Conrad Yelvington, was formerly the Stoneco, that is located on the west side of N. MLK Blvd., north of the CSX RR Plymouth Sub in Lansing. It's a crushed stone yard.MiddleMI wrote:I take it "Stone Yard" must be the yard which backs up to Stoneco (https://stoneco.net/) which is just west of MLK? You have it backwards, it’s Stoneco now, not Conrad Yelvington anymore. And yes, they leased the B32-8s to replace both GLLX units.

sorry, "stone yard" was meant to reference the yard where the stones are, ie the Stoneco Facility, not a yard named "Stone Yard"

Looks like Miss Scarlet is adding some preservatives to the ties.gbw wrote:sorry, "stone yard" was meant to reference the yard where the stones are, ie the Stoneco Facility, not a yard named "Stone Yard"

Third Coast Distributers set up the stone yards in GR, Lansing and Flint. After a few years Conrad Yelvimgton took them over. After a few more years Stoneco took over the operations. Stoneco has supplied the Lansing yard from their quarry’s in Monroe and Ohio.

Conrad Yelvington and Stoneco are both owned by the CRH Company
Re: Ex-NS B32-8s in Lansing
Flint gets some of its aggregate from Alpena too. It'd be cool as LSRC acquires more of CSX lines maybe additional destinations for Alpena stone will develop .

Both GLLX units? Is that including the ex-GTW unit in Flint?SD80MAC wrote:You have it backwards, it’s Stoneco now, not Conrad Yelvington anymore. And yes, they leased the B32-8s to replace both GLLX units.

Re: Ex-NS B32-8s in Lansing
Probably not, the 2 units in Wayland aren't going anytime soon to Hartford.
Re: Ex-NS B32-8s in Lansing
I think the SW unit already went to the WMR in Hartford, GLLX 4433 (GTW GP9) is still there though.Super Chief wrote:Probably not, the 2 units in Wayland aren't going anytime soon to Hartford.

The GLLX 4 (SW9) went to Hartford in March. The GLLX 4433 (GP9) is still at CHS in Wayland because CHS is leasing it. Not sure what the plan is for 921 in Lansing and 4428 in Flint but it would not surprise me if they went to Hartford eventually.Super Chief wrote:Probably not, the 2 units in Wayland aren't going anytime soon to Hartford.
