Railroaders may not be aware of this. Tracks predate snowmobiles and the trail they ride on. Just my $.02!

Actually, snowmobiles are based on old sleds. Those old sleds predate railroad tracks.Stinger4me wrote:Railroaders may not be aware of this. Tracks predate snowmobiles and the trail they ride on. Just my $.02!
But what I really want to know...
How were the cars derailed by nearby loggers?

I asked myself the same question. Also, I'm not able to locate Trail 422 or the location where the cars derailed

Well the State publishes a map of snowmobile routes. Using that and the fantastic news story.AARR wrote:I asked myself the same question. Also, I'm not able to locate Trail 422 or the location where the cars derailedDaveO wrote:How were the cars derailed by nearby loggers?
My guess is https://goo.gl/maps/9vrZvBzLvk92
The .kml file available by searching for Michigan Snowmobile Trail 422 kml says more to the north but I don't think so.
So I guess how they got loggers out of that is kind of almost maybe correct.

Thanks DaveO. That's the spur to Timber Products (between Shingleton and Munising). TP is a steady customer for CN. They ship out veneer and possibly receive pulp logs.
