How Do I Get LSRC Roundhouse Pics?

Unread post by TrainStuff13 »

I see that there are pics on the internet of the LSRC roundhouse in Saginaw. Does anyone know how I can get good pics without trespassing?

It is all trespassing. Any pics you saw were taken with expressed permission and likely on-site supervision by the LSRC.

You really can't anymore. You used to be able to call LSRC and they'd have you sign a release and you could shoot around the roundhouse. Not anymore! Some bad foamers ruined it for the rest of us.

That sucks :( I was hoping to see if they still have 469, the old Alco.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't that after those guys tried or did steal a bunch of stuff off of the RS-3's and a few other Alcos? Horns and all that?

Having done photos for LSRC, they are still civil with foamers and fans. It is those who enter the yards with out any type of permission or authority to be there that ruin it for the rest. And as far as it goes, MSP usually has a car that patrols the yards.

469 is still there. It's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Got some great pics, long ago in the Tawas City shops and yard, back when it was still D&M---just before it changed over to LSRC. Let them know I was there, signed a release---they told me to watch my step, and have fun! And back in 2006, son and I went to Alpena----same thing--signed the release, and they opened up the roundhouse to us. First thing we saw was 4 Alco and MLW units. Of course, the box of doughnuts we gave them might have helped a little.

There is a totally public walking bridge that many people get pictures from with the correct zoom lens. I will attach a google maps link to the location, it is on the south end of the yard and is completely public.
