Sights of the Upper Penisula 2008 CN/WC Edition

Unread post by CAT345C »

Some more shots from August in the Upper Penisula. This time all CN (boo!) And an IC shot (YAY!)
Heres the first train we stumbled on just south of Brampton. SORE-1 Southbound
Image
Next after about a 2 hours of being lost in the wilderness because I enjoy off roading to much we found L540 sitting at Eagle Mills Jct waiting for a re-crew.
Image
Just then the some lite engines came by on the LS&I
Image
The next day we went down to Escanaba, caught the remote switcher
Image
We putz around and explored for a while, then found SORE-1 leaving hte ore yard:
Image
Then we headed them off at the derailment site along M35 just north of Brampton but before the Perkins Curve:
I also completed my dream of getting my 3 loves in a single shot, locomotive, dozer and my truck!
Image
Next we meet him again in Rock still along M35
Image
Then we found the remenants of an old m35 and almost crossed the tracks in 4x4 but I was being smart. We went back to Little Lake, no sign of head lights down the straight away so we got Kawalchuck and went exploring around the Air Base. We then by accident caught SORE-2 on its way south to Little Lake to meet SORE-1
Image
I See STEVEN NER!
Image
Image
Then we proceeded down the trail that me and steven got lost on the day before. I was averaging about 40mph in most spots and pacing the train. The engineer looked at us as if we were crazy. I think I may have even made Chris sick in the back seat. This hill here was the most fun, it was pretty much an uphill creator with a sand trap at the bottom.
Image
Heres a random SORE-2 that we found in Little Lake on morning.
Image
SORE-1 Arriving into the Ore Yard in Escanaba. The track in the forground is the Line from Green bay to the Soo. It merges onto the ore sub until Gladstone.

MORE TO COME YALL. Next is the LS&I Edition and maybe a Ship edition.

I must be the odd ball in the group. I like CN shots. I'd rather see CN than NS or CSX, personally.

Nice shots, T-Bone.

I grew up with CNW dash 9s and 50s running around on my vacations, then UP bought them, but the SD40s were still cool. Then the WC took over and SD45's were King. The CN still puts on a good show, a few years ago all you would see were Alstom SD40-3's in the same 2 unit sets. Really annoying. At least now you got good variety. I'm glad you all liked my photos.

Don't get me wrong CN/GTW/IC I enjoy watching/seeing it makes going up North enjoyable at times. I personnally like BNSF or UP a little more... GTW is the exception to the rule I love seeing them...

More nice photo's and narration, Mike T. Thanks. Like Trainjunkie, I enjoy CN more so than the other Class 1's :)
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...
