Auto racks

Unread post by rettop »

Sitting around at breakfast we came upon a question--we know where autoracks are loaded, can not recall seeing any pictures or locations where they are unloaded. Like in the Chicago area or Detroit?

Link to a PDF file that answers your question courtesy of the American Association of Railroads.

That pdf says that the King Rd. ramp in Woodaven has no current rail activity. That's not true anymore. They are loading Rangers from Michigan Assembly at the moment. The holding lot there is full of them and we send convoys there a few times a week.

The publication date for that link was January 2018 so yes it wouldn't be up to date.
The current version of January 2020 is available at https://aar.com/standards/pdfs/2020%20A ... 1.1.20.pdf
It shows the activity at both locations you mentioned.
