CSX GRE Train Location Update 10-30-07
All quiet at the GRE. The usual Amtrak, that's it - no outbound or inbound cars last night on the way home. UST is carpooling from there again. Got a report that another PV will be visiting Coopersville before the end of theyear - can't remember which one this morning (CRS

Light power headed up to Consumers power plant at approx. 6:
He passed Waverly about 6:40. The problem with that was that 326 was in the siding and had pulled up to Lakewood but didn't get the signal until 7, which meant Waverly Road was blocked for at least 20 minutes...what a mess that created!

Hmm...something must be up with my lookup source...
Says N95629 is leaving Chicago as of 8am, but I heard N95629 getting ready to leave Wyoming yard.
I also wonder what northville Steve saw at Northville this morning..another N956? any idea on the engine numbers on that N956 you saw northville steve?
Steve, that was actually D700 in the waverly siding, as q326 was already into GR at that time.

If not N956 then what was it? Good question. I live about 1/2 mile from the tracks but can't see them. But loaded coal trains are unmistakeable by their sound. There is a slight uphill grade from Plymouth to Northville, and loaded coal trains can be heard for up to 15-20 minutes or more as they groan northward from Plymouth, and I hear the horns as they cross Meade Rd (just south of 6 Mile), 7 Mile Rd, Baseline (8 Mile), and 9 Mile Rd. I just assumed it was 956 since it was in Chicago yesterday.
Since it looks like I may have erred in judgment, I'll post only what I physically see from now on.

Steve, CSX has been sending more coal trains to Flint, heres a few pics of them in Plymouth, one day I caught a meet tween a south bound empty and a northbound load on 9/16/2007
I thought somebody told me they went towards Port Huron to build up a stock pile, and that they only occured every other year.

hi zack
the empties jon saw headed east this morning were from n901's loads to the plant sunday, went by east waverly between 200 to 600am this morning headed for wyoming. they would be a e444, e445, or e446 out of wyoming for walbridge i believe.

Apparently the crew and both dispatchers didn't get the memo this morning.donnieland wrote:hi zack

Well lookie there, there was an N95630 that ran today out of GR.
N95630 - FLINT MI CC 35 10-30-2007 18:11
Mike, your CSXT 7333 was on it. Left GR at 9:50am... guess I wasn't on drugs, just wasn't showing in da search.
N95630 ran in front of N95629, which is still in Livingston.

N-956-30
Don't have a clue what the score is on N956-30 but it was a 100 car EMPTY train going to Flint from Grand Rapids. (0-100) 2161 tons, 5571 length Have never seen an N956 empty train before and it had the eastern cscx cars as well, not the western powder river cars.

So then this would have been the train of CSCX cars coming into Saginaw last night with the LSRC 5921. Also, there are still western coal hoppers being stored in the HESR in Bay City. They have been there since the switch back to SBS occured about a month or two ago.
