What does NS do on their line to Urbana? What kind of traffic and operations are there?

Largest customer on the line is the large Anderson's elevator which is southwest of the Staley Rd / US-150 intersection on the west side of Champaign. Unit grain trains run as needed and CN also has trackage rights to the elevator. Within the last year, a small liquid fertilizer terminal was constructed on the property and they receive a handful of tanks at a time, as well. In Urbana, NS has the CUMTD bus terminal, which receives diesel fuel for city busses, etc. and Solo Cup receives plastic pellets on the remnants of the old Sindey-Urbana line just south of NS's "yard". D41 is a Thursday-only local that services these customers, in addition to the aforementioned grain trains to The Andersons.

The Anderson's elevator (grain and fertilizer storage complex) is at Rising, west of Champaign. Although located on NS (ex-Peoria & Eastern/Conrail), CN has access to this facility. Other active customers are Dart Container (formerly Solo Cup Company) and Emulsicoat (on the ex-P&E/Conrail), also in Urbana, which gets asphalt (not fuel for CUMTD buses).

The Atkins Group has two warehouses in Champaign that have rail access from Norfolk Southern - the McKinley Warehouse and the 150 Warehouse. Neither get service though.
