Re: Illinois Rail Business News
Saw this on a yahoo message board..the rail scene in Bloomington Illiinois just got a little busier on NS. The Mitzsubishi plant just got retooled for their new outlander sport line and is projected to spit out 50,000 units a year to 70000 eventually. Also a Midwest Fiber Plant there completed an expansion and load 30 boxcars of baled wastepaper a month. Also Train D49 has been put back on at Good Yard to handle the extra traffic.

KCS opened a new grain terminal in Jacksonville Illinois a month or so ago. The new Bartlett Grain Facility was opened on August 1 and is designed to hold 2.2 million bushels of grain. Not sure what this subdivision is called but it's near Roodhouse Ill and its namesake yard Roodhouse

Springfield Subdivision. Service to Springfield itself has been Wednesday only for several years now, and I believe local service on the Murrayville - Jacksonville Spur is twice-weekly (Monday and Friday?) to deliver plastic pellets to Pactiv Corp. Addition of Bartlett's grain terminal is a significant gain for this remnant of the old GM&O Jack Line and the Springfield Sub. KCS even laid welded rail to handle the frequent grain trains.redside20 wrote:KCS opened a new grain terminal in Jacksonville Illinois a month or so ago. An Entrepreneur has big plans for this former Union Tank Car site in East Chicago...good luck to this grand idea. As fate would have it, maybe some rail to the site is a possibility.

Springfield area media reported this story in February 2013. I noticed track materials stored nearby back in November, but work did not start until June this year.
