Wreck at East Chicago

Looks like CSX took a spill on the IHB at East Chicago, lots of reroutes up the Porter Branch...

Awesome!

It was at the IHB diamond at Cal (no) Tower. Q326 and Q327 are annulled today.

A freight train derailed in East Chicago just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, sending several cars full of crude oil careening off the tracks.
According to fire officials, a CSX train heading eastbound derailed in East Chicago on Wednesday evening.
A total of 41 cars disconnected from the conductor car, while between five and 10 cars actually derailed, according to officials.

(Flame the TV station for the "conductor car", not me!)

What's a "conductor car"?

It leads the string cars, the woodwind cars, the brass cars, and the percussion cars. :D

At least they didn't call it the passenger car (since it had people on it) or the tractor car (since it pulls the train like a semi tractor). But if the engine is the conductor car it does raise the question of where the engineer rides the train. "It could have been worse" isn't a high standard for journalism.

Several oil cars and a BNSF engine are in East Chicago yard, along with a B&O themed caboose on another track there.
