Amtrak 371 heading to Chicago hit a car in Michigan City causing one fatality.

Not much left of that car. I do believe Amtrak can go 79 m.p.h. on CSX in Indiana.
Cars are no match for a train going that fast.
Fortunately, other than the driver of the car, there were no other injuries.
