Is Amtrak's Porter Siding not being used?

Unread post by twropr »

This morning there was a very questionable call. Amtrak #350 was held at CP 482 on NS for about 10 min. for #351 to clear. You would think that Amtrak would have requested #350 right away and tucked in in their new Porter siding to save a few minutes on the meet.

I cannot speak for the siding, however in general you want to make it quicker for the "late" train. So if 351 was running later, it may have been quicker to make that move. (But like I said I have no idea the layout of this siding or situation)

Siding is probably not in service yet.

Looks like you might get your wish, 364's engine went dead just east of Porter
