Judging by the damage to the loco, it hit at a pretty good speed. The snow is undisturbed, so the hopper may have been empty, but that could be a coal pile on the left, in the distance. That hopper may have slid a 100 yards or more. It's interesting that the ground isn't torn up anywhere around the hopper.

Fox 28 reported that a coal train from Chicago to the DTE Monroe Mi plant derailed in north west IN on friday . That's all I have found so far.
