Probably not from the natural gas powered cars but the second shift and doubling of capacity from 100,000 cars to 200,000 cars should see some of that increase go by rail.

SDI gets in scrap, but doesn't ship much of their finished bars out by rail. A lot of the scrap comes in by truck too, as Indianapolis has a very large market on scrap. Several large scrap yards in town, all of which would be within a 30 minute drive of SDI at Pittsboro. They do get some scrap from outside sources, but they have no where near the volume of car loads in and out as the NUCOR mill 20 miles to the west.

Four companies are expanding in Lafayette and three of them, well maybe two have are rail served..They are Rea Magnet Wire, and Alcoa, Since their is a spur nearby, rail service to Wabash is probable and the fourth, Heartland Automotive doesn't see any.

Alcoa is a shell of its former self from its heyday. I've heard they had their own switcher, and almost an entire circle of track inside the plant. NS serves ALCOA directly, and CSX gets interchange to/from them via the "D" yard on the joint cooridor along the river. Again, a fraction of the traffic the place generated in WWII, but they still do get rail service.
