Sale of CSX branch through Marietta to Relief

Unread post by mowingman »

I read some months ago, where the CSX wants to sell the Marietta line. Has anyone heard if any shortline operators are interested in this branch since the big power plant closed at Relief, Ohio?

Seems like it was included in a package deal up for bid including 6 or 7 other lines around the East, have not heard anything more in a few months

There are no filings or decisions on the Surface Transportation Board(STB) website regarding the Marietta Subdivision.
Any potential acquisition would have to go through the STB.

Thanks. I had not heard of anything either. Seems like it might make a good little shortline, what with the Carbon Black plant, the former Union Carbide metals and chemicals plants, the old BF Goodrich plant and the Globe Metals plant. Plus, I believe it is all welded rail, clear up to the former AEP powerplant site.
