Asked one of my patients that farms for a living. The High Total Fermentable hybrid ( HTF) of Pioneer and hybrids of others are indeed restricted to just ethanol use and limits the use of the DDG byproduct. There's something in the molecular set up of the hybrid that's not safe as a long term feed source for domesticated livestock, i.e. what they eat, we eat in the long run. The HFT restrictions aren't really that big of a deal, as the higher cost of the hybrid you would be a fool to sell it as non ethanol use. The DDG for HFT is usually exported for use in plastic production. The jury is still out on the HTF hybrids on whether they are worth the extra cost. There wasn't much of a difference in yields between it and normal field corn last year in central Ohio. About the only farms using HFT are ones near an ethanol plant.

With all the rain central and south central Ohio received, he was only able to plant a little over 400 of the 1,000 acres he was planing on planting with corn this year. Some of that may not come up after the 2 inches of rain he got Sunday night and then another quarter to half inch or more Friday morning.

Nothing about the CFE. I saw IORY 4082 and about a dozen cars pulling into the yard across the road to the west of the I&O yard office in Lima. Then later it was parked behind the I&O office along with 5004. PW

EB CFE train FWLI on Sunday with FEC 506/505 and 16 grain cars. All cars for Bunge most likely. Had reporting marks of CSYX, FURX and a few others. Made quick turn around at Fort Wayne. Probably not much work today. Went through VW around 3:25PM. PW

Around 12:30 PM, WB CFE train LIFW. Leading again were FEC 505/506 and pulling 99 cars. Might have been 100, but who's counting. LOL. Very heavy on grain cars for Bunge: Bunge, AEX, FURX, CSYX. There were around 10 Cargill salters, 2 or 3 boxes, 7-8 gons, 6 or so tanks, 1 CSX gray Ortner, 1 AGP grainer, and 1 CN grainer in with the Bunge traffic. Head end had 61 grainers for Bunge. We've gained 4 more Cargill grain hoppers at the elevator in VW. Don't know when they came in for a total 16 all with CGEX or CGAX. They are loading some of the hoppers today. PW

Also , today just after 6:00PM EB CFE train FWLI. With FEC 506/505 and around 80 cars. About 12 boxes, 7 or 8 coil cars, 6 or so tanks, plenty of grain cars including CP and Bunge and private owners. Rolling along around 35-40 MPH. At least 10 of the Cargill grain hoppers in VW are loaded now. PW

Had EB CFE train, FWLI through VW around 5PM. It had CFE 3880 and 20 cars with 3 coil, 5 Cargill 2 bays and grain cars. had WB LIFW through around 12:15 PM with 3880 long hood forward and maybe 13-15 cars with a couple gons, grainers of what I saw. Also, yesterday we had 2 I&O units with 2 orange stripes in town doing work. Took the 2 loads out to CSP and came back. How many I&O units had this scheme? I figure one of them was IORY 4034. Don't know if this was the FWLI or not. It came in from the west light, so I don't know if it left the rest of the train outside of town or not. Maybe it was just a VW turn. PW

There's six of the red/orange I&O GP40s. 4034-4036 are assigned to the CFE. The other four are out in Oklahoma assigned to the Kiamichi RR: 4031-4033-4035-4050. There also were two GP30Ms in the red/orange scheme 86 and 87. The 86 ended up getting scrapped back 2004 and the 87 was last used by the I&O back in late 2004.

Yeah the KRR does have the other 4 but IORY 4033 & 4050(both now have white cab roofs) are stored with 3 other KRR GP38's as well as 1 GSWR GP40. IORY 87 became MJRX 87 as is now working First Energy in Astabula, OH stil in IORYv red & orange minus the lettering.....

They need to send IORY 4031,4033, 4035 & 4050 HOME!

Thanks for the GP40 info midland and ioryfan. I had never looked to see how many of these painted units there were. It would be nice to see these 2 units 4034-4036 working on the CFE together for awhile. I really like that scheme. Kinda classy. PW

We had through VW today CFE 3886/3880 in charge of LIFW and 69 cars. It had 14 gons with smaller pieces of scrap in them, 22 CP/SOO and SOO LINE grainers and FURX and FMLX in that cut. 1 box, 1 AGP grainer and 1 BNBX grainer and coil car.

Around 4:25 PM FWLI was through VW with CFE 3880 leading 3886 and 25 cars. Had 5 Cargill salt hoppers plus some private owners ones, 6 flats of steel, 7 boxes, 6 gons, and 1 AEX grainer bringing up the rear. The first train was through around 12:30 PM. :D PW

Those CP/Soo Line are empties that probably came from Trupointe @ South Chuck on the I&O- there was about that many there earlier this week. They brought potash in from Canada.

WB CFE train LIFW through Van Wert around I think 12:45PM with IORY 4034/4036 and 14 cars. 3 grain, 3 box 3 flats, 3 tanks, and 2 gons. There's also around 15/16 soda ash hoppers at the VW Terminal. Don't know if there new loads or just some. 2 loads for CSP By Eisenhauer Mfg. and a lonely grain hopper at Scott Equity in town. That's all folks. :o PW

Last night had EB FWLI through VW with IORY 4032 and 17 cars. It was running long hood forward. Had 3 Cargill salt hoppers, 3 gons, 3 boxes 1 Bunge tanker , 3 CSX Ortners and a few grain cars. It went through at 11:25 PM.

Today we had EB FWLI through VW around 5:45PM with CFE 3880/3886 and 47 cars. It had 3 plastics hoppers from CSP in town, 11 boxes, 8 loaded flats of steel, 6 cargill 2 bay salters, 3 gons and mostly the rest were grain cars.

Also, we had at just after 9AM a WB hirail weed sprayer truck go through town spraying the ROW. It was a tamden axle straight truck.

Still have 5 loads for CSP in town. The LIFW did work in town today, but I didn't see it with same units 3886/3880.

AARR, some of the box cars come/go from RR Donnelley in Warsaw, IN. Also, some would most likely come from the IHB in Chicago. Occasionally, in the past we have had Trincool reefers, some mechanical reefers and cryogenic cars. I'm not sure where they went. We've never had that many of those.

http://www.railamerica.com/IndustryDev/ ... nName=Find a Warehouse or Transload&FacilityID=.

There is a warehouse in Lima called Wright Distribution Center near Ford Park Yard and thats probably where some of the boxcars came from.

Oh yes and then there is Luckey Trucking. I don't know where in Lima there located but here is a link
