WLE on the CSX Short Line

Unread post by RichK »

I caught this Wheeling & Lake Erie powered scrap metal train heading west on the Cleveland Short Line Sub this past Sunday evening (August 1st).

Would anyone happen to know the train symbol used while it is on CSX tracks? I believe it would be Z???

Thanks.

Thank you.

I almost missed this one since the engineer was speaking awfully fast as he called signals, and the reception was quite garbled. I had no idea he was anywhere close to me until he began to throttle up, and I barely had enough time to get out of my car and get this image.

Truly a lucky grab shot.

I can't think of the Z symbol off the top of my head, but I believe Wheeling uses 707 as their symbol.

You are correct.

I spoke with a guy in Berea this morning who also saw this train and he was able to catch the symbol. It is in fact Z707.

Z708 eastbound, Z707 westbound. looks like it made a round trip between Wellington and Rockport on CSX that day.

Ditto! Consider yourself lucky to catch a GP35 100series and GP40-3 300 series together :)
