NS Between Oak Harbor and Bellevue

Unread post by Y@ »

How many trains use the line between Oak Harbor and Bellevue (via Fremont) on a usual day? My guess is around 25-30 but I'm not sure.. any help is appreciated.

Wow... in that case, I'm going to guess that most of those trains pass through in daylight? Every time I've been there, it seems like I hear at least 10-12 from sun up to sun down.

I think the following are typically "daylight" (at least in the summer):

Wheeling KL81/KL82 (typically afternoon)
NS/CN 184/353 (typically morning)
NS 344 (343 also?) (344 typically morning - does 343 come back late in the day?)
NS 13Q/14Q (typically late afternoon/evening)

Others? (don't know all the symbols on that line right off)

178 usually very early out of Toledo but can be seen in daylight if he gets held up out of Oakwood
184 is always a am train in daylight unless CN has a major service issue
353 is into Toledo (Vickers Siding) before sunrise unless Bellevue is a mess which I rarely see these days
10M/11M/331 are done
23N is through in the early am before sunrise
26N is a late afternoon train and is usually through after sunset
344 is a morning-afternoon train depending on work at Homestead
343 is called out of Bellevue at 1400 and has made it through during the daylight most nights
17M most of the time makes it 0500 call time out of Bellevue and he gets through in around noon or so
18M is through in the early morning before the sun comes up
13Q is through in the evening after dark
14Q is through in the late afternoon and sometimes after dark depending on congestion
15Q is a morning-afternoon train Thursday-Sunday

M7M runs several times a week and M8M has been running about once a week

Coal and grain are whenever as normal

I'd agree for much of the year although I thought their call time at Bellevue was around 5 PM give or take? (or are they running later now?) I'd caught them several times last year during the "long day" months between 7-8PM ish...

I have all the call times on my database at home and I cant log onto the 8-ball here at work..but 13Q has been running after dark for months now because he always have the UP GEVO's being delivered and I always haev to take night shots....been like this since at least last year because ive done maybe 14-16 overnighters since then and its always been called at the same time...Ill check later

To expand on JQ's posting:

178 is due out of Toledo between 6am and 8am
184 is due out of Toledo between 530 and 730am (depending on when CN delivers the train)
23N is due into Toledo between 4am and 6am daily except Monday
26N is due out of Toledo between 515pm and 715pm
343 is due into Toledo between 830pm and 1030pm
344 is due out of Toledo between 830am and 1030am
17M is due into Toledo between 915am and 1115am (4 extras during May)
18M is Toledo between 515am and 715am (9 extras during May)
13Q is due Toledo between 1010pm and 1210am
14Q is due TOledo between 645pm and 845pm early week, 515p to 915pm fri-sun
15Q is due Toledo 910am to 1110am Thu-Sun

A note about extras, with the current operating plan in effect, extra sections run before the actual train. So it's not completely uncommong to see M8M an hour or so ahead of 18M.
The dispatcher is cool.

Wayne-I have more then 4 M7M's running in May..not sure if they ran to Elkhart each time as there was one that ran Linwood-Roanoke and then either became 17M or was combined and ran north as 17M...once again notes at home

Thanks to both of you for posting more info - now I know more. And I have more respect for a man who can admit his mistakes than the many out there who "post things on the internet" but can't/don't back it up...
