Point Jeyes Railway Co.

Unread post by Point Jeyes Railway »

Point Jeyes Railway was originally founded in 1872 operating a single mainline between Point Jeyes and Lake Kee along the California coastline. As other Class Is like the SP abandoned rails, the Point Jeyes line acquired them, now having another 100mph mainline to an interchange with the UP at Villanova and a line to Shay Sound (formerly a lumber camp). The main operation is famous for its 100% steam operations. We also operate a holding company PJRy Co. that operates other shortlines such as the rebuilt Virginia and Truckee and the Pine Belt & Southern. The V&T is run using former V&T 4-4-0s 11 'Reno' as an oil burner and 12 'Genoa' in 1901 condition. Another line is the Pine Belt & Southern in rural Alabama run using high hood GP-30s. 2 are former Southern (2561 and 2608) and the third is former N&W painted as 1776 like the SD45. PJRy also operates a tourist steam train on lease to Coos Bay rail length with ex-SP coaches and Coos Bay 11, a 2-8-2T #11 or Coos Bay 104, a 2-8-2. PJRy Co. also runs another steam train on former SP at Salt Lake City utilising former Waco, Bridgeton, Trinity & Sabine 2-6-2 1. PJRy just recently has started running steam on the San Diego trolley line with former SP 2718, a 2-8-0, on the trolley; SP 216 a 4-4-0 on the old SD&A toward San Ysrido; and former Santa Maria Valley 100, a 2-8-2, on the mainline to Oceanside. In England PJRy Co. operates the historic Waddesdon and Aylesbury branches using mainly GWR traction with some LNER to serve the President and CEO's country home.
At the main line Point Jeyes Railway interchanges with BNSF and UP at Shay Sound, UP at Villanova and the Gurtantown Central a Class III diesel shortline at Lake Kee. One of GTCR's division has just been sold to Iowa Pacific Holdings and they will have trackage rights on the southern division to the interchange with PJRy.

More to come soon.

Pine Belt's main power,
ex-Southern GP30, 2561 provides regular power.
When 2561 isn't running 2608 is used, or if extra power is needed. This GP-30 is considered to be in need of a repaint and will be as time allows.
