We own 22 E44a and 15 E60C, but if we choose to dispose of the E60C's it won't be more than 8. And our mechanics are familiar with the GM6C as we own 15 ourselves.

Oh, I thought we had the only one, i think the GM6C is a good hauler, ours doesnt go very far though. The M&N would like to purchase 2 E44s and 3 E60Cs. However, they need the following modifications before they can run on the Baltimore City division: A mars (or Gyralight) warning light, a strobe on the roof, E-bell, and weigh below 160 tons. Can we have one of the E44s in PRR paint? The rest (including E60s) are basic black with yellow walkways and yellow hand rails.

the Capitol Limited will run again on a new schedule. It will be running on the same timetable as its B&O predecessor. It will be powered by steam from Baltimore to Pittsburg. In Pittsburg, the steamers will be replaced with an A-B-A set of E7s (or PA-1s).

Press Release: From the M&NTCo Public Relation Dept.

The M&N is safe from the Monopoly of the A&P. We will continue to operate as usual. The US department of Transportation and the Maryland Department of Transportation has granted us protection from any monopoly or buy out scheme. Our executives and our President have presented our case to USDoT and MDOT, and have both state and national government backing us up for future situations.

Our new Intermodal service will make an inaugural run from Baltimore to Pittsburg. These trains will be pulled by our new NGS-1D steam locomotives. Two more Roadrailer terminals will be constructed in Chicago at the former CN Railport yard, and in DC in the former Potomac Yard.

Two unique locomotives will be running on our roster. The first is already conducting road tests. They are both steam turbines. The first is the former PRR S2 Turbine, the second is the C&O M-1 Steam turbine electric. The M-1 wont be running until later this year.

I personally went to the Mt.Clare shops (home of our diesel repair shops) for an inspection. Here are some roster shots of diesel and a few steamers at the Mt.Clare shops.

TV ad#1: "Life on a Helper"
"Its mid afternoon, you're sitting in the Yard office waiting for another run. Then, the Trainmaster gives you new orders, a push up the hill. You get in a crew van and you're shuttled to the helper engine. Old #51, a Cab-Forward. You climb the steps up into the spacious cab and receive orders. In the distance, a whistle blows for a road crossing, the train you will assist is coming. With a roar, the freight flashes by, and you prepare to make chase after it to push up the mountain. The end passes, the switch aligns for you to move. The signal turns green and with two taps of the airhorn, its time to go. A few minutes pass and you're hooked up to the freight. With steam in lines, the headend signals to move forward, and with quick work, both you and the headend are moving as one and haul the heavy train over the grade. As you shove uphill, another train passes by, heading downhill with its own helper. Your train crests the summit, you're cut off, the push is over. It's all in a days work, a day as a Maryland & Northern helper crew. helping move our traffic east and west to reach their destinations. Are you up to the task? Maryland & Northern Transportation... Full steam to the future."

TV ad#2:"Day on a Freight"
"You're alarm clock goes off, its 10:30 in the morning. Make a pot of coffee, read the paper, the usual morning routine. But your morning is different. Your phone rings, its the Trainmaster, a train is ready to go. You arrive at the yard, get your train orders and hop in a crew van. The van drops you off at engine #50, a Y6b. On board you recieve new orders, the tower operater gives you a clear and with 2 blasts of the whistle, you set off. This time, the train is a mixed freight. You leave the yard and head on to the mainline. You stop for a red signal and a passenger train races by. It clears and the switches align for your train, off you go again. This is just another day as an M&N engineer. Our engineers operate the most advanced steam locomotives in the world, such as Y6b #50. Are you up for the job? Maryland and Northern Transportation...Full steam ahead."

All of our steam engines are being rebuilt, the EPA has shut down all steam (except for the NGS-1D) until a cleaner burning fuel can be used. So far, the steamers are being converted to Biodiesel since it worked out well with the NGS-series locomotives. So, for the first time in the M&N's history, all trains will be hauled by diesel and NGS-1D locomotives. so far, the M&N has only 15 active diesels on roster. this includes 2 ES44ACs, 1 AC4400CW, and 1 ES40C. All trains will still runs as scheduled. As for the oil-burning engines, they will be the first to be converted and should return to service next month. These include the Cab-forwards and the Bigboy #54.
