CSX Train Location Updates - February 2024

M327-29 on the move at 12:34 from mp CH59.9 & will be picking up his Conductor but didn't hear where. He had reported "a pin jumped" between the 145th & 146th car. I don't know what that "a pin jumped" means.

In some long drawbar cars, slack action can sometimes created vertical motion that can allow the knuckle locks/pins to move. Under the right circumstances they can move enough to release the lock on the knuckle and the cars will uncouple. Rare, but does happen.

Y121-29 @ 13:36 westward Pass Track to Main Track, Holland, Mi Depot mp CG25.3 with CSX engine #2686 & 8 empty cars (6 Gons + 2 Hoppers). He’ll go to the Holland Depot signal & then back eastward to go westward into the Dock Track mp CG25.

Crew was called to protect M326 in case they didn't make it to Holland. They are yarding the train as U30129.

L302 by Howell at 17:23. Had not seen 8033 since 12-8-15, and the unit was facing west. They won't have to spin this one if they plan on mating it with 4045 as 4045 is facing east. As a side note, 8033, is the only unit still on roster between 8029 & 8037. All the others were rebuilt in to 4000 series units nearly 10 years ago. Looks like L302 will be meeting L303 in Fowlerville.

G077-26 spent another night at Webberville, guessing due to safety concerns regarding the weather (but below freezing temps are fine evidently). Nobody had mentioned which way solo unit 81 faces, so presumably it faces westward.
If nothing changes, their return to Plymouth will be quite the show. Unsure what the plan is, and unsure what their return symbol will be. I expect they'll taxi to some other power, take that west, and begin building.

L302-29 @ 22:48 was talking with Rouge Tower & was told to put their engines where the CSX engine #5315 is parked, which was the mid dpu for today's M326-29, for it to go out on tomorrow's L303-01 in tow to be dropped off for the grain train. L302 had told Rouge the #5315 would need to be spun - which will probably be done in the morning. Today's M326-29 had 2 engines leading plus mid dpu #5315 (his cab was facing west). So, that would confirm CSX engine #81 on the grain train G077-26 is facing westward. Was also hearing they may opt to set off the #5427 (L302-29's trailing engine to be L303-01's leader) to avoid having to spin the #5315, then Rouge said they'll just figure it out tomorrow what the plan will be.
