Great Lakes Central Updates December 2023
Heard them return to Cadillac from Clare at 1400.
Re: Great Lakes Central Updates December 2023
OSTN-1 395,383,391,329 Southbound 18:44 at Zukey lake/Lakeland. Looks like part of the ONTN they went and got yesterday and brought back this morning. We watched the steel highway camera of them pulling it into owosso at 10:04 this morning with the same locomotives

Don’t know if TCMan talked to the railroad or just a schedule change but I haven’t got a wave since they have been coming in the dark this past week

OSTN-1 Northbound 329,391,383,395 21:20 at Zukey lake/Lakeland

Hmmm, I specifically told crews we need more cowbell! I mean waves! I'll get another memo out to them asap.

Does GLC have a symbol they use to identify the PM 1225 pulling the North Pole excursion?

GLC doesn’t even use symbols to identify their own trains. OSTN, CNTN etc are all railfan designations.CSXIndyLine wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 1:52 pmDoes GLC have a symbol they use to identify the PM 1225 pulling the North Pole excursion?

Correct - crews are identified so OWO-1 is Owosso crew #1 and YM-1 is Your Mom #1SD80MAC wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:29 pmGLC doesn’t even use symbols to identify their own trains. Formerly, jobs were assigned symbols like OSTN, ONTN etc... and are still used easily to ID train movements.

01:06 - GLC "ONTN" NB out of Owosso with 395/391/383, two tank cars and then at least 30 ZFS hoppers before i stopped counting because i am add. there was a lot more after that but whatever
05:52 - GLC "OSTN" SB with 383/391/395 into Owosso by the SRI cam - a long cut of ZFS cars (63 loaded hoppers and one tank car on the head end)
08:00 - GLC "OSTN' SB into Durand Yard
the loads from 05:52 are for CN and currently still in Durand. Unknown if it will be a unit train or if R943/4 will come grab them overnight and M396 pick them up in Flint and take them to Toronto. Most likely the latter.

Heard horns around 0530 when I let the dogs out. Assuming an 1800 or later call time yesterday.

Looks like a Petoskey run last night judging by what's missing from Tufford Yard this morning.
Re: Great Lakes Central Updates December 2023
AS off 10:00 am, 2 Engines and about 8 cars off plastic were sitting on the main line and a Petoskey Plastic truck was unloading from one off the cars on the main line that they just brought up last night, and no one was around from Great Lakes R.R.!

They do that in Mancelona sometimes, they'll tie down for the night or weekend there and retrieve the train the next working morning.
