20:24 - EB P364 by the Charlotte cam

20:38 - WB M301 with CN/CN ff by the Charlotte cam

21:30 - EB P364 at Durand kicking people off their train before they go to Flint

21:56 - EB L500 with CN/CN f/r and cars for Lansing including some coils for the JAIL by the Charlotte cam.
- In Snow Yard, I saw what would be L500's pickup tonight. It had 8 more of the plastics hoppers that have been stored on the JAIL. They came off of the Baker Spur aka QD Spur aka the ol' LS&MS line that ends at Reid Machinery. They worked it on Tuesday.

At 4:20 am a SB freight went past MP 22.5. Sounded like an empty autorack train (didn't get up to look) as it was light and hollow sounding. Let's call it a 280. Not often we get night trains on the South Holly anymore. A few years ago that was all we got.

This was an E28091 from IHB with BNSF 5935 solo - our first E280 from IHB in probably a month.

Re: CN Location Updates December - 2023─DEAD COWLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unread post by Robertrains »

  NO!!!!! Not again! I somehow knew this was going to happen!!!!  LansingRailfan, you can see in your two posts that there are fourteen total "Dead" engines!!!! There were five C40-8M "Cowls" stored in BC (I captured them there October 9th)!!!! Did one depart earlier or stay there? CN will probably combine these "Dead Cowls" and C40-8s for a train of fourteen dead engines!!!!! Does anyone know where these are all destined for? Are they going to "Scrap" in Canada again, or LTEX? :?: I hope to get to witness this train myself! My friend (Roger....with my lent 35mm camera) needs more film! He lives in Casco and it is easier for him to get to Port Huron! Friend "Mazon" lives in Marine City but drives to Roseville (near me) to work! Ha, both of us are now Custodians at Marshalls® in Roseville! I got him the job last July and I worked here since 10-2022! I hope to figure something between us catching these "Dead Cowls!!!!" 😡 😡 😡 😲 😳 😭 😭 😢 😢 😱 😱 😵💫 😵💫😵💫

Only BCOL "Cowls" on "Heritage Units!" BCOL 4603: https://heritageunits.com/locomotive/detail/BCOL4603

Northbound CN 251 by Linden at 1:25pm with 126 cars. Mostly autoracks today, but a decent sized cut of mixed freight toward the head end. BNSF 5935 (I think) is the leader with 2 CNs trailing, including what looked like a 4 axle unit.

Some sort of incident between Lansing and battle creek but I'm unclear from radio traffic if it's 1 situation or 2. One is at 218. I believe the dd got them for dragging equipment. But there's also a train broke apart with a crew that's almost out of time. From what I can see Waverly and Mt hope in Lansing may very well be blocked. 1850

Flint YM and a crew brought CN 8837/CN 8927 to Durand light power to surprise a six year old kid for his birthday right at the depot. Kinda nice and heart warming stuff.

It sounded like there was a loaded SB sand train that went past MP 22.5 around midnight last night. Not the longest train but very heavy, rattling the house the whole length, and a locomotive on the rear end. Let's call it a 756, the first one in a month or so.
