Shortlines of Michigan Location Updates July 2023

Unread post by GP30M4216 »

Marquette is working today (Sunday). The G126 CSXT grain train is at MAC in Newaygo, occupying the yard there and also the siding in Grant. The orange Geep is switching the grain cuts at MAC.

MQT 3406 and at least one other SD unit were moving south at White Cloud at 15:45, lite power. Mixed freight is stashed in the White Cloud siding, not sure if it will be northbound or southbound.

Supposedly the Grand Elk ran the FRA train south today out of GR. Did anyone happen to catch that?

Pretty sure it hasn't gone south through Byron Center. Typically they don't sneak by while I'm home and none of us hear the woot woot go by.

Appreciate the loco record. Heard the horn, got shoes on and tried to get out there, but engine had already passed before I could see the numbers.

Didn’t catch the railroad name but there’s a trio of G&W painted SD40-2’s heading toward Grand Rapids. I’m uneducated with Grand Rapids area shortlines and the whole area so I apologize for how vague this is.

I don’t remember the crossroads but my family and I were driving on Leonard Street in Grand Rapids. I made the post as they were going by.
